Zillmere team lifts for gold at state titles

SEVEN weightlifters from a Zillmere-based club won gold medals in the recent Queensland Weightlifting Association (QWA) State titles.

They are members of the North Brisbane Weightlifting Association (NBWA), also known as the Honeybadgers.

The competition attracted 31 women and 27 men aged 35 to 70-plus.

Competing were:

  • Julie Davis in the 65-69 years 53kg category,
  • Colleen Duplock in 60-64 years 58 kg category,
  • Linda Skerman in 50-54 years 69kg category,
  • Tina Redmond in 40-44 years 90kg+ category,
  • Justine Winchester in 40-44 years 58kg category,
  • Clint Winchester in 45-49 years 69kg category, and
  • Logan Poon in 35-39 years 69kg category.

All will now compete on the Gold Coast next month in the 2017 Masters Weightlifting Oceanias, Pacific Rim Tournament and World Cup.
