A YOUNG woman who allegedly mooned police in daylight and in front of startled onlookers in Kingaroy was charged with public nuisance, wilful exposure and a string of other offences.

Kingaroy Police officer in charge, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the woman's actions gave people on the streets of Kingaroy a confronting surprise on Sunday afternoon.

"Police were outside the RSL in Kingaroy talking to people when the female offender yelled out at police from across the road," Snr Sgt Frank said.

"She continued to swear and yell out at police."

Snr Sgt Frank said the 17-year-old Wattle Camp woman allegedly "used her fingers and parts of her body to make rude gestures" before she proceeded to take her pants down.

"She then removed her pants, bent over and exposed parts of her body," Snr Sgt Frank said.

He said the woman's alleged actions were seen by a number of people on the street "who found it quite offensive".

Snr Sgt Frank said the woman then allegedly ran away from the scene, but was quickly found by police.

"She was non-compliant and non-cooperative and very aggressive when she was found," he said.

When the 17-year-old was put into the police vehicle, Snr Sgt Frank said she tried to "kick out" the car windows.

He also said she allegedly tried to spit on police when she was taken into custody.

The woman was charged with public nuisance, obstructing police, wilful exposure, and damaging police property offences.

She was issued a notice to appear at Kingaroy Magistrates Court.
