A MALENY mum who announced she was pregnant with triplets and was planning to raise them on her own is expecting her babies to arrive any day - but there will only be two instead of three.

Chelsey Goulter lost one of the naturally conceived triplets earlier in her pregnancy.

She is now 33 weeks pregnant with the two remaining babies and ready to give birth.

"I can go into labour at any time now, in the next three to five weeks," Chelsey said.

"They say 37 weeks if full-term for twins."

Chelsey said there were indications the two babies, both girls, could be identical.

She said that although the loss of one of the babies was sad, she was pleased the other two babies were strong and healthy.

They were growing well and weighed an estimated 1.1kg each at 28 weeks, she said.

"They're growing like singletons."

But Chelsey, 40, who already has an adult daughter and a nine-year-old, has not had an easy time of the pregnancy.

She believes a fluid build-up has contributed to carpal tunnel syndrome which has caused a combination of pain and loss of feeling in her hands.

The discomfort has made it difficult for her to sleep and she is tiring easily.

Chelsey closed her cleaning business a few months into the pregnancy and was instead making and selling Middle Eastern-style food at markets to make a living.

But she has been forced to give that up for the time-being in the latter stages of her pregnancy but hopes to recommence when her daughters are old enough.

She said not having proof of income put her at a disadvantage trying to find a bigger house to rent but she remains hopeful.

She is focused for the time-being on bringing the babies into the world safely and without assistance, apart from pain relief, if possible.

"I do not want an epidural. I do not want a c-section. I've said you can give me gas but I want a natural birth," she said.
