TAIGUM resident Olivia Barsby has been recognised as the standout player in the Brisbane Women's Hockey Association Division 2 competition.

The Redcliffe Leagues Hockey Club player was awarded the Best and Fairest Player medal as the league's most valuable player, based on votes awarded by opposition team captains after each game.

It is the second time in four years that the Division 2 Best and Fairest Player award has been won by a Barsby family member.

Olivia's older sister Jenna won the same award in 2014.

Their mother, Sue Barsby, won the player of the year award for the Division 3 competition in 2015.

Olivia and Jenna Barsby helped their Redcliffe Leagues team make the Division 2 semi-finals for the first time in a decade this season.
