THERE'S a new toy shop in town and it's the stuff dreams are made of.
Ferrari Brisbane opened its doors to customers this week as the sole official Ferrari representative in Queensland, becoming the fifth dealer of the Maranello brand Australia-wide.
The all-new mid-engine twin-turbo V8 488 GTB was also introduced at the 550sq m showroom in Newstead, alongside a California T, F12 and FF from the line-up.
Celebrating the Italian brand's heritage, a 1992 F40 supercar, classic Dino 246 GT and Michael Schumacher-era 2006 F1 show car also graced the floor.
CEO of Ferrari Australasia, Herbert Appleroth, said the new Brisbane showroom was opening at the ideal time, with the GT and sports car segment up 23% in Queensland year on year.
"Confidence of clients has never been at such a high level, while our product range has never been stronger or fresher," he said.
"The new 488 GTB has sold out to 2017 already, and we've also noted that 50% of our Queensland clients are new to the Ferrari brand."
The $470,000 488 GTB has received more client orders per capita of population at the Brisbane dealership than any other in Australia.
"This brand is incredible in terms of its pulling power; it really is in a class of its own," said Ferrari Brisbane managing director Martin Roller.
Mr Roller was keen to show off the showroom's facilities, which include a customer lounge complete with Ferrari embossed leather seating, and a Ferrari Atelier area where clients can see, feel and choose their car's details, including seat fabric, wheels, paint colour and steering wheel. It really is something special befitting this most iconic of Italian brands.
