LINDA has lost her cyclone status with the Bureau of Meteorology certain it would not regain intensity as it passes down the Queensland coast.
The system, which retains a central pressure of 995hPa, remains 760 km north north-east of Brisbane.
It is expected to move generally to the south-west during the rest of today then take a more southerly track tomorrow while remaining offshore of the southern Queensland coast.
The Bureau has warned that at its closest approach to the coast, the remains of Tropical Cyclone Linda will generate large waves and dangerous surf conditions on exposed southern Queensland beaches.
Tides are also expected to be higher than normal, particularly on tomorrow's high tide.
A Severe Weather Warning remains current.
